Up for theme park thrills? New Broom Camping and Caravan Site is 10 minutes' drive away from Alton Towers – and has a comfy number of amenities to have you sorted on site too. Set in two peaceful acres with flat grass pitches, the park has a traditional pub (which is both large and family-friendly) with a family restaurant. There's also a big beer garden with a play area. And it's all in the small Staffordshire village of Checkley, a short drive away from Uttoxeter Racecourse and The Potteries as well as Alton Towers. The pub serves decently priced drinks and meals including carvery, cooked breakfasts and pizza (pizza is available for takeaway too). It's got a pool table for evenings of friendly competition, and hosts regular events such as rock nights, tribute nights and darts nights. New Broom also has a toilet/shower facility that guests can use free of charge, 24 hours a day.

Gostou: Great food served in the pub advisable to book your carvery,Jon & his staff are very friendly & helpful,shower/toilet block was always clean despite the site being nearly at full capacity,will definitely be visiting again in the near future

Gostou: First I'd like to say that John was lovely, very chatty on arrival and couldn't be more helpful.
The dairy down the road was nice.

Não gostou: In our opinion, this site isn't "family friendly" if you have younger kids. We were next to a main road that was alot louder than we thought it would be, and there were other campers blasting music till quite late (for a 5 & 8 year old) and then very early in the morning. Dogs were running around the site off leads and kept approaching our dog, who was always on his lead. One dog actually entered our tent, and the owners had no clue 🤦🏻‍♀️
As we walked down to the toilets, there was dog poo left on the ground, which added that extra bit of fun trying to get 2 kids to avoid it.
It felt a bit cramped as more campers arrived as cars were just left in the middle of the field. And there wasn't much room for the kids to play.
The toilets looked and smelt like they had a bucket of detol thrown in each cubical, and that was it. The floor was soaking wet along with the toilet itself, walls, and toilet roll...

Do gerente: We are very sorry regarding your dislikes. Unfortunately we cannot move the road. If we do see dogs off lead we will always request that owners put them back on. If we were made aware of this incident we would have resolved this and asked the owner to comply with the dog on lead rule. Apologies for the dog poo also we do site checks and clean up any dog mess.We take onboard your comments regarding the toilets after trying different products we found detol to be the most effective cleaning product. We will try to find a product as effective that has a nicer smell. Thanks Joh

Gostou: John was very welcoming and helpful, though he appeared very busy he also made time to talk to us and make sure any of our questions were answered.
The staff at the pub were very helpful and able to advise on a short walk around checkley. The pitch felt safe/secure and peaceful.

We had a very straightforward stay as we chose to eat in the pub restaurant, so glad we did as the food was fantastic served piping hot and I can definitely recommend their home cooked chips. We’ll be back with family for a meal again.

Não gostou: We disliked nothing! It truly served its purpose as an escape away for the night to enjoy sleeping in the van and having a drink at a pub without a long walk back to our beds.

Gostou: Pitches were spacious, owner was welcoming, site was spotless, on-site pub with good food and a beer garden with play area. Good location, a few pubs dotted around. Milkshake vending machine near by, shop near by in a car.

Gostou: The site was simple and just what we were looking for. Shower and toilet facilities were clean and no issues setting up or gaining access. The pub on site cooked lovely home made food at really good prices. The staff and the owner were lovely, pleasant and really accommodating. The play area was loved by all the kids.

Both Alton Towers and Uttoxeter Racecourse are ten minutes' drive away – just as well then that New Broom Camping and Caravan Site is competitively priced as you'll need to save your pennies for days at either/both… Uttoxeter is also good for an afternoon out to visit the Museum of Uttoxeter Life, the Wednesday and Saturday markets (a farmers' market is held once a month too) and Bramshall Road Park's tennis courts, skate ramps, football pitch, bowling green, play areas and Picknall Brook nature reserve. Fifteen minutes' drive away at Stoke-on-Trent, The Potteries ceramics centre has over 20 pottery factory shops as well as award-winning museums, visitor centres, factory tours and a ceramics trail. Around half an hour away, visit the Derbyshire Dales to find walking trails for all abilities and market towns such as Bakewell and Ashbourne.
