Litton Lakes

Ik was blij met: Quiet rural location, loved the lake and it was easily accessible. Easy to find. Lovely pub just 5 mins walk away. Brilliant dog walking field with a stream running through it which was perfect during our very hot stay.
Cafe is in a great location overlooking the lake but sadly didn’t get chance to eat or drink there this time.

Ik was niet zo blij met: Communication was poor especially as there is hardly any phone signal (which is mentioned on their website) and no wifi so arrived and there was no one around. It said to ring the number on the board but as we didn’t have a signal we ended up just parking ourselves after hanging around for a while.
On arrival all facilities were dirty and not cleaned until gone 7pm and the site was very quiet.
New shower and toilet block is nice in principle but still working through teething problems including freezing cold showers, no cold water in hand washing area for cleaning teeth etc, high water pressure meant you got a shower when you washed your hands, nowhere to hang a towel or anything next to the hand washing area basins or washing up area and nothing to clean the washing up area down when finished. Hooks in the shower cubicles need to be higher up for tall people who have longer dry robes/clothing as everything gets wet dangling on the floor.
Water in the old shower block was luke warm at best so not impressed with the shower situation.
Dogs off leads needs to be monitored as we saw about 3 dogs that other campers just left wandering around, urinating on other campers pitches and running about.

Ik was blij met: The site is in a wonderful location, very peaceful and picturesque. Wonderful facilities with the cafe and lake on site. Clean toilets and showers.

Ik was blij met: The lake was amazing and the coffee shop has some really tasty sweet treats and iced coffees.

Ik was niet zo blij met: Not a dislike of the campsite, but the locals at the pub down the road clearly don’t like “outsiders”

Ik was blij met: Hot showers, relaxed atmosphere and great location.

Ik was blij met: Grounds, lake, facilities, dog walk, paddle-boarding, fire pit, check-in, check-out…what’s not to like, all brilliant and will be back! Didn’t use WiFi so can’t comment.

Ik was blij met: How clean the site was and the facilities were easy accessable and plenty available

Ik was niet zo blij met: No where to purchase any forgotten bits and cafe didn't open till 9sm following day and 10 on the Sunday.
Not a lot for the children to do, eg playarea

Ik was blij met: Lovely location and scenery was great. Lovely village pub a short walk from location.

Ik was blij met: Location is so picturesque, with streams and brooks close by, the onsite lake and cafe are excellent bonus.
A lovely local pub within 10 minutes walk.

Ik was niet zo blij met: Just one minor dislike, the toilets and showers although newly built have N open feel so can feel draughty and cold. Water temperature is a little inconsistent in the showers and the could do with a seat to get shoes and socks on with more ease. It definitely wasn’t a deal breaker though for us.

Ik was blij met: Swimming in the lake and walks around the surrounding countryside. The toilet facilities were spotless and very well appointed.

Ik was blij met: We met up with few friends - a mixture of VWs and Tents as well as our motorhome. Sarah made us feel very welcome and was able to put us all in an area together. The toilets and showers were brand new and great. Loved the lake - we swam and / or paddle boarded every day between us. Great area for walks - we wandered over to Modbury farm shop on one of the days. We also enjoyed the cafe on site and had a lovely seafood lunch next door as well (Rachel’s). We didn’t go to the pub but it’s literally the other side of the field so very convenient. Very dog friendly site and area.

Ik was niet zo blij met: Although some of us did walk to the bus stop and then head into West Bay / Bridport, it’s a long way (40 mins to get to a bus that goes every other hour pretty much). Great if you have time and the weather is on your side. Those with younger children would need a vehicle to get to beach or any local town / tourist spot. Even a bike might be tricky on the busier coastal roads. It suited us for a short visit - and this is literally the only downside we felt worth mentioning for others to consider.
