- Peaceful site with spectacular Savoie Alps views in the Rhône-Alpes
- Via ferrata courses, rock climbing and zipwires all 10 minutes’ drive
- Tennis courts and play area; covered dining area and barbecues allowed
Surrounded by the snow-capped peaks of the Savoie Alps, Camping Caravaneige Onlycamp Le Val d’Ambin sits between the Italian border and the Vanoise National Park. This quiet haven is at an altitude of more than 1,200 metres, with grass pitches scattered over five hectares – some are on sloping ground but all have wrap-around mountain views.
There’s a whole raft of sports on offer within 10 minutes’ drive, but if you don’t feel like venturing too far from your peaceful Rhône-Alpes bolthole, active guests can play tennis or ping-pong on site, and there’s a small playground for any restless toddlers as well as a games room for older kids.
Barbecues are allowed on site – pick up supplies in the picture-perfect mountain village of Val-Cenis (15 minutes’ drive) – and there’s a communal covered dining area for days when the weather isn’t playing ball.
The pretty hamlet of Bramans (10 minutes’ walk) is believed to be on an ancient Roman road that Hannibal and his elephants trod in the third century AD. You can follow in the great Carthaginian leader’s footsteps on a waymarked trail, and as dogs are allowed on site, they can join your rambles in the Savoie foothills too.
