  • Peaceful and friendly park in the Lincolnshire Fens
  • Dog-friendly with a huge dog walking field
  • Play area and kids' bar area with games
You might like to ponder on arrival who Orchard View Caravan & Camping Park would be most perfect for, but you might be pondering for some time. For those who like the sound of silence: this is a serene and peaceful park away from noisy A-roads. Scenic sorts: the park is in the handsome Lincolnshire Fens, with waterways to explore nearby. Foodie types: the Fenland villages have all sorts of tasty treats to try – fresh farm produce, rated restaurants, tearooms, fresh fruit from roadside stalls and Lincolnshire sausages made in the market town Spalding. And Fido: Orchard View is dog-friendly and has a huge (and safe) dog walking field with lots to sniff at. And finally, the little saplings: there's plenty of technology-free space for younger guests, including a wooden play area with a sandpit, swings and a slide. Kids are also welcome in the children's area of the bar where there are board games, puzzles and supervised use of the pool table. Amenities here are bang up to date, such as the recently built shower block with free hot showers. There’s a shop three miles away at Gedney Hill and you’ll find info galore on what to do in the local area in the tourist information cabin and in the bar – or you could just ask Ray and Maria what they recommend - they’ll be happy to help.

Electric grass pitch

Liked: This campsite is like no other. It’s a small family run business with its guests at its heart. We’ve never stayed here before but have used several others in the area and this site is second to none.

The pitch was spacious and we the camp site was well kept. There was so much room, another tent could have been pitched between us and the next one! The cost was very affordable and was one of the cheapest around for this may bank holiday. The site hosts its own private bar with a good selection of drinks and snacks. (£3.50 for a pint of Aspalls). The owner also has a snack bar on site serving breakfast and dinner. There’s a good offering of fast food from burgers, fish and chips and nuggets. And again, this was very well priced. Toilets and showers were a short walk from the camp site and also clean and well stocked. There’s also a child’s play park at the centre which is getting a little tired, but the kids loved it never the less. It’s clear that many of the guests were longer term holiday makers, but every one was friendly and helpful. Throughout our short break, the bar even hosted a quiz night which was well attended with prizes for the winners too! If you like history, make sure you head to Crowland and take a look at the church/ruined abbey and the historic bridge. We will be back and we look forward to seeing the shop open which is being worked on.

Disliked: Toilets could have been a little closer for those staying in tents, but then again I’ve worked further at other sites.

Electric grass pitch

Liked: Amazing stay, campsite owners are so nice and very helpful. Site really clean and well maintained. Would definitely recommend to anyone. Lovely and quiet, play park for the kids in the middle so you can see from 90% of pitch's which is awesome. Had some great food from the van they have, definitely a hit when you don’t wanna cook. Didn’t have a dog with us but love that they even have a dog walking part at the back. Would definitely stay again thank you.

Local attractions

You’ll need to be active to work off all those Lincolnshire sausages, so take to the unexplored fens on Orchard View’s doorstep for cycling, riverside rambling and horse riding. Strolling around the shops is also a less strenuous way to work off the calories: Spalding has bargains galore in the Springfield Shopping Outlet. A scenic drive will take you to the towns of Hunstanton and Sandringham, but you can’t come to this part of Lincolnshire without also seeing seaside town Skeggy. It’s not just the seaside, the donkey rides and the funfair: the Natureland Seal Sanctuary is at Skegness too – and has tarantulas. Once the kids have recovered from their hair-raising tarantula experience, soothe them with a trip to Fantasy Island up the coast at Ingoldmells. Where, coincidentally enough, there’ll be a chance to go shopping again: with hundreds of stalls, the Eastgate Market is the biggest indoor seven-day market in Europe...
