Level grass pitches

  • Relaxed pop-up site 10 minutes’ drive from Somerton in Somerset
  • Glastonbury 10 minutes’ drive and Cheddar Gorge 40 minutes
  • Level grass pitches with modern showers and a covered washing-up area
Bag your spot in a Somerset field for a taste of back-to-nature, no-frills camping. Yep, The Paddock, 10 minutes’ drive from lively Somerton, is a pop-up site with level grass pitches sheltered by natural hedges and offering up woodland and hill views. Facilities on site include toilets, showers with hot water and a washing-up area, all located in the camping paddock. There are also ping-pong tables and other games for the kids as well as hammocks for snoozing in on warmer days. From here, you can go out touring the West Country by car, on foot or by bike. If you fancy a day on the beach, that’s do-able too, with Burnham-on-Sea and Brean about 40 minutes by car; alternatively head south to hit Lyme Regis and Seaton on the Jurassic Coast in about an hour. Barbecues are allowed on the campsite, but if you’re not feeling the alfresco cooking vibe, there’s a pub about five minutes’ walk away that serves local beers, scrumpy cider and freshly prepared meals.

Liked: What a great little site We had such a warm & friendly welcome when we arrived The pitches are flat, the toilet & shower facilities and washing up area were lovely and very clean with plenty of hot water The converted horse box was very cute & made a lovely feature with picnic tables for people to use Fire pits were available to use although we didn’t use one on this occasion It’s in a great location to explore Glastonbury & Wells and the surrounding area. We wish we could have stayed longer but we will definitely be back later on in the year Thank you

Disliked: Nothing!

Powered grass tent, campervan or trailer tent campsite

Liked: Just spent 3 nights at The Paddock camping as a solo female.
An absolutely beautiful site with the most welcoming owner.

I had pitch 8 right at the bottom as I'd requested a quiet one and I was able to park my car right next to my tent.
Neil the owner was so helpful and let me use an extension for my electric hook-up.
The site was so peaceful even when quite busy, and at night, you could hear an owl hooting; it was so relaxing waking up to hearing the birds in the morning.

The toilets and showers are both immaculate and modern, and there are picnic tables to sit and a funky horsebox.

There is a bus stop about every hour into Glastonbury; you turn right out the campsite and walk about 3 minutes to the stop near the monument. (You catch it on the opposite side of the road to go into Glastonbury.)

The pub just a few minutes walk away does great food and my ploughman's lunch was lovely. (I'm amazed Neil doesn't get any commission for the amount of campers that use it!)

Driving into Glastonbury takes about ten minutes and I managed to get a parking space Beltane bank Holiday weekend on both the Saturday & Sunday.

I can't wait to return.

Powered grass tent, campervan or trailer tent campsite

Liked: Really lovely small site which we took our caravan to for a two night stay so we could explore Glastonbury which was about 10min drive away. Lovely welcome from Neil who also gave us advice on planning our trip to climb the Glastonbury Tor. Perfect for families with a communal seating area and a nice relaxed feel. Felt very safe for our 6yr old to play and use the facilities etc independently which he loved! Two nice showers with toilets in the same room, always clean and tidy when we used them. Few mins walk from a nice local pub which served lovely food.

Disliked: Disliked is a strong word but it was quite tightly packed so maybe one or two less pitches would mean a bit more space. Also somewhere for grey water disposal would be useful.

Liked: Lovely clean site, quiet with flat pitches. Sheltered by trees and hedges. Showers warm and toilet always spotless. Picnic tables available for use. Small freezer for communal use. Stock of ice-creams, lolly pops and cold drinks which could be purchased for a very reasonable price. Friendly and helpful hosts. Would recommend and would definitely visit again.
