Owlery camping pod
Liked: I chose this place to have a couple of days downtime on my own. I was extremely lucky with two gorgeously sunny days.
The communication with the owner was superb, confirming my booking within an hour. He asked what time I would be arriving and met me on site to welcome me and show me around the pod. I'm used to camping, so I brought a few items that I thought I may need (camping chair, small table for my drink, my own pillow, etc). I didn't even get them out of the car once I saw how well equipped the pod was!
The pod has an extremely comfortable double bed, with four pillows (soft, and memory foam). There's a two seater sofa that pulls out into a sofa bed too.
On one side of the pod there's a kitchen area with sink and draining board, equipped with a small fridge, microwave, a CD radio and a kettle. In one of the cupboards there was also an air fryer and a toaster. Four sets of crockery and cutlery, plus mugs, drinks glasses and wine glasses. There was plenty of hot water to wash up.
The owner had also left me coffee, tea bags and milk, with a bottle of rosé wine in the fridge 😍! I honestly didn't think I would be so well looked after!
The bathroom was spotlessly clean. The shower worked really well. Remember to bring your own towels.
There's a heater for colder times, but I didn't need to use it.
Outside, the raised patio area has chairs and a table. There's also solar lighting in the form of fairy lights just under the the pod eaves, and what looks like a street light, for sitting outside in the evenings. The site itself is also gently lit at night, with fairy lights in the trees.
Just 10 minutes walk away is a friendly local thatched village pub, which serves food at lunch and dinner. They also have a couple of real ales on pump. I felt very comfortable there as a solo female. Just remember to bring a torch with you as the lanes get very dark at night when you lose track of time 😁
I almost don't want to give such a brilliant review because it feels like my little secret oasis, but Fred was a wonderful host, and he deserves to sell this place out all year round 😍
Many, many thanks to Fred for a lovely stay. I'll see you again soon!
Disliked: I cannot fault this place at all. Brilliantly equipped, in a beautiful setting, with a great little local pub. I will be back soon!

Liked: The campsite was easy to find, clean and quiet- which is what we were hoping to find. The pod was well laid out with all the things you would need to cater for yourselves for the time there. The welcome additions to the fridge and Easter egg each were very much appreciated. We very much enjoyed our stay and would happily return in the future.

Fred the owner/host was amazing, super friendly even went out of his way to give us leaflets and maps of walks in the area and things to do.
Disliked: Nothing we had a brilliant time.

Liked: Firstly, Fred was incredibly welcoming and helpful - which made us feel instantly at home! Lovely peaceful site, very well maintained with flat pitches of generous size. Basic facilities were always clean (plumbed flushing toilets and electric shower in portaloo shells work really well!). We were there over a sunny Easter weekend and although there were several other campers, it never felt crowded and we never had to wait to use any facilities.
We had a nice meal in the local pub, always a bonus!
There's lots of great walks from the doorstep.
We will definitely be returning! Would highly recommend.

Liked: Whole package - a good value pitch with all the facilities you'd need, very friendly and helpful guy running the place (drove home and back to the site just to fetch us a map!), in a charming location. I'll definitely be back, absolute bargain

Liked: Friendly owner who was very welcoming and made sure everything was ok for us.
I was apprehensive about the shower but the concept was absolute genius. Portaloo shell with proper plumbed toilets and shower. Hot plentiful water, clean and tidy. Boil water if you'd like hot water to wash up with.
Excellent value for money
Disliked: Nothing. I want to gatekeep this site as it's such a gem but I can't not give Fred his due, he's got a lovely little site here and works hard to keep it at a high standard
