  • On 30 acres of landscaped park, with views over the Ribble Valley
  • Plenty of activities, play areas, pool, crazy golf, arcade and bar
  • Within easy reach of the Forest of Bowland, Pennines and Lake District
You might fall over when you clap an eye on Beacon Fell View, a family-friendly park in 30 acres of landscaped parkland with rather spectacular views over the Ribble Valley. Slap bang in the middle of Lancashire, the park is conveniently placed for day trips to Blackpool but within easy reach of the Forest of Bowland, the Pennines, the Lake District and the Yorkshire Dales; golf, fishing and walks are all available close by too. Firmly family-friendly, Beacon Fell View keeps a considerate eye on many little (free) touches to jazz up your break: the indoor heated pool, the table tennis, the paddling pool for little squirts and the entertainment four nights a week in high season won’t cost you a red cent. Even more enticing for exhausted parents, you can send the heirs and heiresses off to the free kids’ club while you catch a match on Sky Sports or down a drink in the adults-only lounge bar. (A family bar is available on site too.) Amenities include hot showers (also free), a covered dishwashing area and a launderette, and kids can additionally live large at the indoor and outdoor play areas, crazy golf and arcade with amusements and pool table. Pitchwise, all is level, grassy and within five minutes’ walk of reception; guests have access to water points and can park their car by their pitch. For supplies, nearby Longridge has a well-stocked farmers’ market, a couple of supermarkets, two decent pubs serving good food and – quids in again for the kids – an outdoor adventure centre with everything from water orbs to fencing.

Electric gravel touring pitch (XL)

Liked: Very friendly staff.. Nothing is to much trouble.
The bar area is very clean and modern.
The site as a whole is clean and tidy.
Views from the bar area are amazing over the countryside and reservoirs.. nice little bonus of the cows coming up to the fence line in the evening. Our 2 boys enjoyed feeding them grass.
The arcade looked like there was plenty of machines although we did not use this facility.
Nice and quiet in the evening

Disliked: The pool is expensive to use. It's not free as advertised on pitch up.
It cost £20 for 2 adults and 2 children.
The play area is borderline dangerous. It's very old and tired.
There isn't a proper menu for eating out. This campsite would really benefit from that I feel.
We stayed on pitch 26. Our caravan had to be pitched lengh ways across the pitch as it would not fit m the usual way even though I rang to check before booking.
The pitches on this row and the bottom row were very cramped.
Because we was pitched lengh ways we had trouble turning around as the rows are dead ends with no turning point at the end.
Toilets were very dirty on the 1st day but was cleaned the next morning.

Electric gravel touring pitch (large)

Liked: Staff friendly.

Disliked: My wife, myself and our two granddaughters went to the pool on the day of our arrival only to be told that the use of the pool was not included anymore as Beacon Fell View Caravan Park no longer controlled it. It would appear that they have leased it to a swimming tuition company. We were told that we had to pay to use it. Because we wanted to use it on each of the three days, we were told that we should buy a three day pass which cost us £50! We were not told this when we booked or when we arrived and there were no advisory signs regarding prices anywhere. Also, it still states on the Park website that the pool is free to use. There were many disappointed customers and some left early unable to afford the extra charge. Other parents/grandparents forked out the extra charges so as not to disappoint their kids. We feel truly "ripped off" and in spite of coming here many times, will certainly not be coming again. Add to this the fact that the toilets at the pool were not working just added insult to injury. Just to add that the toilet/shower block was filthy most times and obviously not cleaned often enough and drinks prices in the club were scandalous. No park wifi and own reception poor.

Sadly we probably won't come back because of the pitches and toilets.

Liked: The club and swimming pool was fantastic if you was in a static caravan then this is a great site. Had great views and nice walks around the campsite also the club had a little play area inside which is great for kids.The staff around the site was lovely and friendly too.

Disliked: The touring area was a big let down the pitches was squashed together and had steep embankments. also the toilets and showers didn't seemed to be cleaned all weekend.the park area for kids was a bit tired too. Feel like this is such a shame that the touring side is not better looked after better pitches not all squashed in a row with no privacy and better house keeping would make this site wonderful.

Liked: * Site lovely and clean
* Beautiful view's
* Nice bar with entertainment
* Nice clean play gym for the younger ones
* Arcades for kids

Disliked: * Pitches are very tight
* Arrived and somebody was already on our pitch.
* No one managing check in, so on arrival was a big queue where people had to leave there vehicles with caravans to go to report to reception around the other side of site- Ideally should have a check in area this would avoid long wait and blocking access for people coming and going out.
* Pitch up description of site clearly states FREE swimming included, so very disappointed when we went down to go swimming to be told it is not and the cost for us would be £27 to go swimming, the charges are £6 for adults £4 for kids. They is also no mention on their website or social media of these now incurred charges on top of what's paid for pitch.
I spoke to reception who states they had informed pitch up 1 month ago to update the description of these now charges for swimming, my argument was that although they is a delay with pitch up updating the site, they as a company should have a courtesy to their customers to at least email their customers prior to arrival or state it on the website, so we have a choice whether we wanted to keep the booking. We booked assuming swimming was included in the price as that's what it states on pitch up. So ended up costing us £46 pitch £27 swimming totalling £73 for one night, has we couldn't let the kids down. We go to Haven for less than that.

Electric gravel touring pitch (XL)

Liked: Nothing.

Disliked: Pitches, staff, value for money, website lies. Tells you pool is included but tried to charge me £35 for an hour. We were put on the wrong pitch initially. Motorhome didn’t fit. Took them 35 minutes to come and give me the correct one. Once we were sited the electric was on a card meter, this then took them 45 minutes to come and switch on. So after arriving at 5:45pm it was nearly 7:45pm before we were set up.

Liked: Scenery

Disliked: The pitch sizes were to small and not maintained.
Showers were dirty.
Clubhouse had rubbish outside all day and not cleaned.
We had to pay extra for dogs and awnings where as others hadn’t declared or paid as they were not checked. This is not acceptable as the extra wasn’t cheap.
No internet or WiFi at all on site.

Electric gravel touring pitch (XL)

Liked: Nothing

Disliked: We were put in a small seasonal field out of the site. No views, high fence around, close to road, not level and back legs would not even touch the ground and a squeeze to get single axle caravan on. Had to pay extra deformed swimming which we decided not to do. I had even emailed days before to ask about the pitch and negative comments. No waste facility on the field. 1 water tap which had a hose attached to facilitate one of the seasonal vans. Receptionist not helpful at all.

Electric gravel touring pitch (XL)

Liked: The dog walking field was great for the dogs.

Disliked: Not sure where to start! The touring pitches that are classed as XL and not XL! We landed on Friday to get set up and couldn’t even turn my car as it was so tight! If you don’t have a motor mover then don’t bother. It’s literally impossible to get your caravan into the right position without hitting or damaging something. Some people on the site had damaged their car or caravan and some of the electric hook up points didn’t work! The toilet block wasn’t nice also. My son has a picture to prove how dirty they are and there was someone else’s poo all over one of the seats! To be fair the lady on reception was accommodating when I rang them on Friday to say the pitch was no good and we moved pitches. The pitches need to be marked correctly to make it easier for people when arriving. Looking at the site, it’s work in progress but they certainly need to sort the very very tight pitches out! I’ve never seen anything like it hence why they stipulate no twin axels! You struggle with a single regardless! Would we come back? Absolutely NOT.

Local attractions

Beacon Hill Country Park and the Forest of Bowland are mere minutes away by car and both have miles of walking routes across a range of landscapes including woodland, hills and farmland. Climb to the top of Beacon Hill to see landmarks in all directions including Belvoir Castle, Lincoln Cathedral and the hills of the Peak District. Said to be the inspiration for Tolkien’s Middle Earth (which might make you want to furry foot it there immediately), the Ribble Valley has the 70-mile path the Ribble Way, shopping in towns such as Clitheroe or munching one’s way around the Ribble Valley Food Trail. The River Ribble is a big hook for anglers landing chub, barbel, trout and salmon. City day trips are in all directions too: the kids’ eyes will light up with a trip to Blackpool… and for shopping, the Trafford Centre and Liverpool One of Manchester and Liverpool respectively should empty your wallet nicely…
