You're most unlikely to get bored here, say Valérie and Christian, the amiable owners of peaceful Camping des Papillons. For its Allier department and Auvergne setting in the centre of France is in a region stuffed with pursuits and attractions of all sorts from volcano sightseeing and forest hiking to velorail cycling and river rafting... and as the site has easy access from the A71, getting out and about from here is a cinch. Camping des Papillons is a spacious and family-friendly park in Lalizolle, with a laidback vibe where guests are invited to mingle at welcome drinks every Sunday. You'll find a fair old bit to do around the grounds too: Tuesdays see foodie theme nights of varying types such as barbecue, paella and truffade evenings (if you don't know what truffade is, des Papillons is where to start), and regular competitions of table football, table tennis, volleyball and pétanque are held for guests. Alongside all that, des Papillons has a playground to safely occupy overexcited kids, miniature golf, a heated pool open from July to September, and a snack bar open daily from noon – obviously you'll want to occupy your time here for some significant time too. On site, there is also a tiny shop with just some basics. For food shopping, the nearest bakery and grocery shop are a five-minute drive from the site (in Échassières). There is another small shop and bakery, as well as restaurants, a bar and a pharmacy, in Ébreuil, 10 minutes' drive away. For larger shops, you will need to drive 20 minutes to Gannat.

Vous êtes arrivés sous la pluie ? Nous ne sommes pas commanditaires du temps malheureusement.
Les magasins sont à 20 kms ? Tout est clair sur le site. La boulangerie est à 7 kms comme la première épicerie qui fournit de nombreux produits à des prix abordables. Le deuxième point de ravitaillement est à 10 kms. Dans ce même village, vous trouverez une boulangerie, une pharmacie, un bar-tabac et des restaurants. Effectivement, pour des magasins plus grands, il faut faire 20 kms mais ce n'est pas non plus un supplice d'autant que les routes sont agréables et touristiques.
Partir en vacances en connexion avec la nature oblige parfois à faire quelques concessions. Si vous regardez les commentaires des autres vacanciers, vous verrez que cet isolement est aussi et surtout un atout.
Concernant les autres items notés, vous ne pouviez pas juger vu le temps que vous y avez passé.
Nous trouvons votre note sévère surtout qu'en si peu de temps, on ne peut pas juger mais si c'est votre choix nous le respectons.

Local attractions

Natural sites, sports, heritage, adventure and a smashing theme park are all up for grabs from here. The spectacular Auvergne Volcanoes Regional Park is just to the south of the site, with its most famed crater the Puy de Dôme; the fab Vulcania theme park, and the volcano of Lemptégy all within an hour. If the kids feel fizzingly excited by Vulcania, have another historic theme park day at the Paléopolis palaeontology park 20 minutes' drive away at Gannat. All ages should also like a subterranean adventure at Volvic 45 minutes away, at the Maison de la Pierre de Volvic in an underground former quarry and Puy de la Nugère lava flow. Active options include horse riding via the centre five kilometres away; trekking in the Sioule valley and region's forests, investigating the bike trails alongside the river, or – pleasantly placidly – hiring an electric bike for the ride from Louroux de Bouble.
