  • Peaceful Lynmouth site with views over the Bristol Channel
  • In Exmoor National Park, 30 minutes' drive to Ilfracombe and Minehead
  • Food shop and wifi on site; five minutes' drive to Lynmouth harbour
In need of a Devon des res with smashing views? Lynmouth Holiday Retreat is a quiet site in the hills above Lynton and Lynmouth in the Exmoor National Park. As it's got direct access to the A39, it's a top contender if you're looking for a base to explore the Devon and Somerset coast. Needless to say, there's plenty of stunning scenery around here: keep your eyes peeled for resident wildlife like wild ponies, red deer and birds of prey. The surrounding countryside is also full of trails for rural rambles, including the long-distance South West Coast Path. Dogs are welcome at the site and direct access to footpaths makes it a breeze to keep Fido fit and healthy. Lynmouth Holiday Retreat has plenty of practical benefits too: facilities include a food shop, wifi, a washing-up area and a launderette to keep your gear spick and span. If you find yourself getting peckish, feel free to set up a barbecue, order a takeaway or head down into Lynton (five minutes away) to stock up at the supermarket. You'll likely want to linger here for a stroll around its picture-worthy cottages, fishing boats and genteel Victorian buildings. Alternatively, forage for your own supper by taking the kids crabbing down at Lynmouth harbour (five minutes' drive).

Bay View powered grass and gravel tent, campervan or trailer tent site

Liked: - quite possibly the most beautiful site I’ve ever visited.
- immaculately presented, very clean and tidy and well maintained.
- plots are great, well looked after and flat.
- customer service is great.
- the location of this site is outstanding, the view of the bay is beautiful.
- great location, walkable info Lynmouth/not far to drive (be mindful that walk is hilly but doable). We walked to lynmouth and got the cliff railway to Lynton and walked back.
- site is rural.
- facilities are great, better than some hotels. Clean, tidy, modern. Hands down the best we’ve ever stayed at.
- great accommodation options.
- can order pastries into the shop and fresh coffees and juice in the mornings.
- shop is lovely, well stocked with essentials and had local goods. We were able to pick up a gas canister which was handy.
- dog friendly and secure dog enclosure which is well looked after.
- staff are on site 24/7 should you need them in an emergency.
- very quiet.
- WiFi is good.

Disliked: Honestly we couldn’t find one think we disliked even a tiny bit. Such a lovely site and I would return in a heartbeat. Would definitely recommend to anyone who wants a rural but beautiful site in north Devon.

Rabbit Field powered gravel and concrete motorhome site

Liked: Loved the very clean facilities, the food truck selling cocktails was a great option. Really loved the views and the peaceful atmosphere. Really love place to stay. Will be back regularly

Disliked: Nothing really- I did think the telephone box could/ would be a lovely book exchange? There were no displays or list as to what bakery items were on offer from the shop

Recommend to friends Visit again

From the manager: Thank you so much for the lovely review! 🌿✨ We're thrilled you enjoyed the peaceful atmosphere, beautiful views, and of course—the cocktails from the food truck 🍹😉 It's always our goal to make every stay special, and hearing that you'll be back regularly means the world to us 💚

Great suggestion about the telephone box—turning it into a book exchange 📚 is such a charming idea, and we’re absolutely taking that on board and will start to collect some books! We'll also make sure the bakery offerings are more clearly displayed next time 🥐📝

Can’t wait to welcome you back soon! 🌞🐦

Bay View powered grass and gravel tent, campervan or trailer tent site

Liked: Very lovely view and staff were so friendly. Toilet facilities were always clean and they even had a dishwasher. Pitches were good size.

Disliked: Toilets were a far distance from bay view when it’s raining. Ground was very muddy and we were sinking.

Recommend to friends Visit again

From the manager: Thank you so much for your kind words! 😊 We're really happy you enjoyed the views, friendly team, and clean facilities — and yes, that little campsite dishwasher is always a hit! 🍽️✨

We’re sorry to hear the wet weather made things tricky near Bay View – the rain definitely makes things a bit squelchy sometimes ☔🌧️ We’ll keep working on improving ground conditions there.

Hope to welcome you back soon for another stay (hopefully with sunnier skies!) 🌤️🏕️

Local attractions

Guests here have plenty of attractions and activities on their doorstep in and around Lynton and Lynmouth (five minutes' drive). For a novel way to travel between the two, try the funicular cliff railway that connects the twin towns. In the surrounding countryside, you can marvel at the geological formations of the Valley of the Rocks (10 minutes) or head out to the forest around Watersmeet (15 minutes) for waterfalls and an elegant Victorian tea room. Many head to this part of the country in search of outdoor pursuits, so sporty types may well be pleased to learn that Lynmouth Holiday Retreat is close to a stables (10 minutes), fishing lake (20 minutes) and golf club (40 minutes). To really get that blood pumping, hike some or all of the 14 miles along the coast to Combe Martin, a hilly stretch of the South West Coast Path that includes this trail's highest point. You may, of course, prefer a day lounging on the beach (and with beaches like these, who can blame you?). Top seaside towns nearby include Minehead, with its rockpools, and Ilfracombe with its castle and aquarium (both half an hour away).
