To Staffordshire, and a serving of the simple life at a seven-acre smallholding a mile from Eccleshall (far enough away to be nicely peaceful, close enough to be handy for shops, pubs, restaurants and the like…) and 20 minutes’ drive from Stafford. Greenacres Farm Campsite is a place where you can get back to basics with an almost-wild camping stay – there are no showers or electric hookups at this pop-up site, but guests will have access to drinking water and chemical toilets. You’ll be staying within a lovely hay meadow, where there’s plenty of space to spread out and start up a barbecue of an evening. First activity on site here should certainly be greeting the cows and sheep that live on the farm; after that, you may like to make the most of your quiet rural position with country walks, days of fishing, visits to peaceful gardens or an outing to the local wildlife park. Alternatively, take the opposite approach and sign up for action-packed days at Alton Towers or Drayton Manor Theme Park, both of which are about 45 minutes’ drive away.
